I think you make a spectacular hero, Boots. Though perhaps I could be your first lieutenant, and you could be my captain. Do you know what a first lieutenant does?

The first lieutenant is the captain's right-hand man, so to speak. When the captain doesn't know what to do, he asks his first lieutenant. The first lieutenant will also take over if the captain is unwell or unfit, and he'll make sure all the other officers are doing their duty.
