[Okay, even though he knows by now that this place isn't Auldrant, and other people come from all kinds of places, Saphir's still so weirded out that people don't know about fontech and fonmachines.]

[Saphir carefully sets his little robot down, and it begins to walk around in a slightly jerky fashion, but it still walks and beeps. Pretty damn good for a nine year old.]

I've never heard of fonons before!

But you made this? Really really? 'Cause you're really cool then! Not lots of people can make little robots!!

[Wow, that is SO WEIRD. Agh, Saphir just cannot wrap his head around the fact that people don't know about fonons! They were what made up matter on Auldrant. Fonons and elements! Everyone knew that!

Buuut his attention is directed rather quickly when his work is praised. He never had anyone but the Professor say good things about his talent. Nephry would sometimes, but she was more interested in dolls and stuff.]

I made a music box for Nephry once! A-And I tried to make something that would fly, but it didn't really stay up that well. [Because Peony broke one of the little propellers, the jerk.] But I like making fonbots the best! When I grow up, I wanna make a really big one!

It's real nice to meet you, Saphir; that's a cool name, I think! A-and I don't mind if you gotta take a while, 'cause it's nice that you'd make that.

[See, this is why people like Nephry have always been so close to Saphir. As girly and not-so-fun to play with as the boys were, they were always really nice to him.]

It's nice to meet you, too, Elicia! You have a nice name, too. [She does. He'd never heard that name before. He wondered what it meant.] W-Well, it won't take me too long to make, but I gotta ask the Professor to help me with the music. I dunno how to make music and songs.

[She puts out her hand—namely, her pinky.]

As long as you pinky promise to do your best, I'll do my best, too! And we'll make really great stuff! Right?

[Wh-What. Pinky-swearing? He's never done this before with anyone before, mostly because he assumed it was silly and childish, but in actuality, no one ever...trusted him so much with anything. Jade did, of course, but they never pinky-swore either. Jade was too much of a "big-kid" for little things like that.]

[Slowly, and a little hesitantly, Saphir extends his pinky and curls it around Elicia's.]
