3rd Teddy Bear [Video][Eaaaarly morning of the 15th]

[Elicia is totally grown-up. I mean, she's five whole years old! And as such, she of course needed her own room with her own little bed. One little issue: she doesn't quite enjoy the heavy rain and thunderstorm outside. She has made a resolute promise to herself that she wouldn't run like a bat out of hell into her father's room, even if the noises and colors scare her silly. And like all little kids, she doesn't realize that promises like these are silly, because that's what papas are for anyway, right?

The journal opens quietly as she hides under her blankets in her sleeping gown, frowning into her hands.

And yes, it's about 1 in the morning. Some of you must be up, right?]

When you're scared, what do you do to make it all better?

[She makes a squeaky noise when another loud boom of lightning flashes.]

I-I mean, if someone is scared... and stuff...

Aa, it's just a natural part of how things work. [ So cuuuuuuute. ] You don't have to worry about anything happening out there while I'm around to look after you, Elicia~ my little girl is always the first thing I'll protect~

Sometimes, but it's okay to be scared! You just can't let it win! Like a bad guy, and you get to beat it and after you do you get to be the hero and feel really proud and everything.

I--! F-Forgive me... [Oh, god, kids say the darnedest things. Now Presea's feeling a bit self conscious.] Huh? Oh...I...yes, I suppose I am, a little... I have had, uh, quite a long time to educate myself.

Got it in one. Been using a sword since I was a kid.

[A wooden sword, but... still.]

How about animals? Or flowers. [She'll stick with the one she already has, even if they're supposed to be for note-taking.]

[Yesss, she has her stuff.]

O-okay!! How do I play a song? Like a pattern, right?

Oooh...

So I might be able to sing when I'm older, too? I'd really like to sing songs to my friends...

Mama says education is really, really important, so that's a good thing!

You mean it, papa~? [she giggles] Then papa can be the first thing I'll protect, too!

I don't see why not. Just keep singing now and until then, and you'll get really good at it in no time.

I don't have a favorite, but I do remember liking a bird from back home.

Yeah, I've got my picture up in the sky and everything! Well, on one of the worlds back home I do.

Heeeeeeeeey - you know what? The guy who makes the thunder, I know him. Or, I uh know his son, and his son's a really great guy, so his dad has to be too, right? I think he makes the thunder just so he can be sure we can hear him, so there's not really anything to be scared about, right?

[Oh, my goodness, you are positively precious, Elicia. Presea smiles faintly again, losing most of her self consciousness. Children will be children, after all.]

Oh! Can I see it, please~? I love birds!!

Preseaaa, that's a really cute name! Like a princess name! Are you a princess?!

[Too bad Presea is emotionally limited, lest she may have flailed a bit at the implied compliment. Instead she just shakes her head and answers honestly.]

No...I am a lumberjack. I cut wood back home and make wooden charms and figurines for people. I was doing so before I made contact with you.

I'm in very safe hands, I see!

Okay! And when I get really good at singing, I can sing to you! Singers need to have people to sing to them, too, or they'll get left out. Nobody should have to be left out, because that's no fun!
