[Elicia sits near the school like she usual does when it gets out, but she's got a new book in her hands—a fairytale book, given to her by Derek (unknowingly, the sneaky vampire hunter). She's already had quite a spike in energy when it comes to writing storybooks, as you can very well see if you were involved in her hideous log.

Forgive her, she's trying to read.]

"Puh...oor little ugly d—duckling..." she wooould sss—say. "Why... are you so di—

di-fir-eant from the others?"

And the... ugly duckling felt worse than ever.

[She lowers the book, frowning. Probably thinking 'this book is just mean and cruel and WHYYY'

When she returns home, she spends some of her time riding up and down one little stretch of hallway on the brand new bicycle the Malnosso ~~for some reason~~ was kind enough to gift her. Training wheels are on it, but just wait until she decides she's gotta man up and take those suckers off. Which will probably be in another week.

But of course, she can't control herself from making a video entry—it's been a long time since she got to sit and make a normal one, of course!]

Hi, guys! Did you have nice Christmases? I did, definitely. I got a cool book, and a bike, and a polar bear teddy! I read about those, y'know! They live in snow, just like how it is here, and they can sit on floaty ice in the water. It's really cool...!

[She holds up said polar bear teddy as validation for her chat.

A beat, while she collects her somewhat limited thoughts. Hey, her mind works 100 miles a minute, you know.]

I wonder what else lives with the polar bears... they're not all alone, are they? That'd make them real lonely!

Hello, Elicia! I'm fine. In fact, I brought a friend with me. She wants to say hello, too.

[The scarf stirs and a little yellow chocobo chick peers out.]

It's so cute!! What is it, Ms. Rydia~? What kind?

This is Carbuncle! She's a chocobo. When she gets older, I'll be able to ride her, but she's far too little yet.

[She holds the little one out so Elicia can pet her.]

Car-bunc-le!!

[Petting is underway. S-so cute!! ;;]

You can really ride on them? They get that big?

[The chicobo kwehs happily, nuzzling back.]

They do, but it will take a while. She has a lot of growing to do.

Really? So do I—I'm still real short, but I'll get taller, mama told me~!!

[Terra smiles down at her pet, the looks to Elicia.]

Do you want to hold her?

[Elicia draws back nervously.]

But she's really small! What if her mama doesn't want to take care of her anymore??

[Yeah, she went through this with that injured mother bird, a while back. She didn't want to accidentally ruin the natural flow, y'know.]

[Terra smiles reassuringly, remembering that scenario. But this is a bit different.]

You don't have to worry about that, Elicia. I don't know about her mother, but the statue gave her to me as a present, so I'll take care of her.

Oh! Then your here mama~!

[She beams at that realization, and asks with a curtsy—]

Mama bird, can I hold your baby birdy?

[Okay, that's just too cute. Terra chuckles softly, then nods.]

Yes, you may. Hold out your hands!

[She quickly holds her hands out, though it's still obvious she's a bit nervous; it would be just awful if she didn't cup her hands properly!! D:]

[Terra gently reaches out and deposits her chicobo into Elicia's hands, gently. The little bird peers at the new hands holding her, then kwehs when she looks up at Elicia with those huge eyes.]

She's curious!

[S-so cuuuute. ;o;]

She's so tiny! Are you really sure she's gonna be big enough to ride on...?

[The chicobo paces around on Elicia's hands, hopping a little and cheeping all the way. Terra nods.]

It will take a while, but someday she will be. People on my world use these instead of horses for mounts.

Really...? So everyone rides around on birdies?

[She beams]

Can they fly, too, or are they like chick-ens~?

[She nods to the first question, then looks a little wistful.]

I wish they could fly, but you're right, they're more like big chickens. Carbuncle tries, though. Right? Can you fly for us?

[Carbuncle kwehs and gives an energetic hop, but that's as much as she can manage.]

[She giggles at the attempt. Poor little birdy works so hard!]

That's okay, Carbuncle! I can't fly neither, so we're the same!

[Carbuncle nuzzles Elicia in response.]

I think she likes you!

Really? You think so?

[She nuzzles back as sweetly as she possibly can.]

I like you, too, Carbuncle!

[Brb, melting over here.]

I'll have to bring her with me after school, so she can visit you!

Really? You will?
