If you are, then you'd better watch out—from behind, a figure leaps from the corner, fake aluminum and cardboard sword in hand! Who could it be but the most devilish of all villains...!]

[Yes, it's Elicia donning pirate wear! Or, at least, an eyepatch and a saber. Close enough, right? She's been hearing an awful lot about pirates, and with this whole 'Halloween' thing coming up, she has a lot to think about! :U]

Hmmm, dunno, poppet. [He spins on his heel and takes a knee so he can give her an appraising look in the eye. The compass is swinging at his belt.]

It's serious business, my compass. [A whisper.] Points to what you want most, darling.

The thing you want most? Can it really do something like that?

[She looks at it curiously.]

[Deft, graceful fingers remove the compass and with a flourish flick it open before her eyes. The needle spins lazily.]

All you have to do is hold it in your hand, child, and I promise you that it will show you the way. [He offers it to her, curious.]

[asobouyo]

Hold it...?

[She does so, and the needle... suddenly spins and spins and spins and doesn't stop while she holds it.]

That's a lot of ways to go, though...

[Sparrow sighs.]

Aye. It does that to me, too, small child. Look--you've got to think of ONE THING, and want it most. Can you do that?

[asobouyo]

[She nods, closing her eyes.

...but it keeps spinning and spinning.]

I don't understand... I'm thinking about her as hard as I can!

[Discouragement. :(]

[She sighs, holding out the compass to return.]

Mama.

I really really tried hard and I thought about her, I promise...

[all7seas]

[And he takes it, and with a street-magician's agility makes that compass vanish somewhere inside his coat. Good one, Sparrow. This was not what he was expecting at all.]

Oh. OH. No, no no lass, you've done nothing wrong. Perhaps your mama will turn up here, eh? It could be that things outside this place cannot be found by the compass.

[asobouyo]

Yeah! [She seems a little more determined.] If papa's here, then mama can show up, too, right? And then the arrow can point me to her when she's finally here??

Aye, yes, of course! Your dear mama will certainly show up before long, poppet!

[asobouyo]

When she does, she can make everyone some pie! She makes the best pies. I'll bring you a piece, okay?!

[all7seas]

[Jack is sort of touched by this, actually.]

Right. That would be lovely, lass. Now run along and raise some unholy mischief with that blade of yours, savvy?

[Running off with her sword held up high.]
