There's lots of really nice people who like to help, so it's okay if you ask for help. When I got here, I didn't ask for help but everyone helped me anyways... You guys missed Christmas here, but it's okay, because I'll get you a present if you really want one; it'll be like a special package in the mail! It's the least I can do, being a cerdurfied superhero.

[She adds quickly, as an afterthought:]

A-also, if you wake up in the snow, be really careful, too. Snow's cold! It'll make you sick if you're in it for a long time.

Hmmm. Maybe it'd be a good time to test out her lie-proof magic stone...? She's admittedly... been afraid to touch it. Partially because of how her friends feel about Mr. Loki and what had happened, but also because... is it bad, to see if people are lying? Does it make her a bad girl? It's things to really think about.

So she blurts out something in the middle of her thoughts, clutching the magical stone in her hand, out of sight of the little screen.]

That's why when she's done on the journal, she'll look for Winry for a one-on-one talk, if she's available for it. Maybe looking a little nervous before she calls to her, anyway. Stuff has been kinda... difficult recently...

She'll also spend a lot of the day out in the front since it's kinda... hotter today than it usually is. What's up with this weird Luceti weather, guys? All the snowy stuff is melting... Man, even her little snowmen. And her cool igloo. :C

Yep! Her name's The Painted Lady and she was at a village in the Fire Nation that was sick. She came from the water, but she helped the poor Fire Nation people anyway because she can't turn her back on anyone who needs her. She used her powers to heal the village and make the bad firebenders go away.

Is she a mermaid??

You could say that - she's kinda like one but she doesn't have a tail or anything! She's just a spirit who comes from the water, so it's like she's Water Tribe.

But they say sometimes she takes on a human form, too - like a hero! [He embellishes somewhat, to try to make the Painted Lady thing sound like a legend and like what he's learned superheroes are like at the same time.]</small?

Woah... Does she like to help people a lot?

Lots and lots. The spirit... she can't turn her back on anyone who needs her. So she'll help them all and it makes her happy.

Is she happy?

[And that gives him pause. Truly, at least in the timeframe he was talking about, helping that Fire Nation had given the Painted Lady's true self some happiness. And during his time in Luceti... it wasn't hard to see her sufferings. He knew he threw the word around too loosely, which earned Masaomi's ire once when he tried mentioning only the positive aspects of taking care of Ikki. And Aang especially felt bad, because he knew, particularly from his own time at home, what it was like for Katara to truly be happy.

He's not exactly sure how to answer; especially given this is a little girl. So he tries some version of the truth.]

In a way it's both at the same time. Because... spirits are very magical! So... the Painted Lady's in different times and places right now. [Clearly because of spirit shenanigans rather than being trapped in Luceti.] In one... she isn't. Because she's stuck there's too many things she can't control, there's too many times whens he wants to help people but can't. But she still gets a little more every time she can succeed in helping someone. And in the other time and place? she is. She's got happiness from the people she helped.

Yeah... I can understand that. I get sad when I can't help someone, even if I really really want to.

I'm sorry you have that feeling, too. So do I, lots of the time. As much as we want to... We can't help everyone. But I guess one way to help is to focus on people you can help. Even if it's just a little bit, like helping clean up around the house, that's still something. You can get a little bit of happiness from it, and... maybe all those little bits can pile up to make more smiles.
